Conference: Architecture for the people
On the 1st of december, IFRA-Nigeria in collaboration with the French embassy in Nigeria organised a Conference at the Alliance Française in Lagos titled "Architecture for the people: for an inclusive and rooted city". The main guest of the event was Demas Nwoko who talked about sustainability, African architecture and the vision he communicated in his work in a discussion with Dr Barbara Morovich, director of IFRA-Nigeria. Between the 29th and the 30th of November, Dr. Elodie Apard, Historian (Research Institute for Sustainable Development), Dr. Precious Diagboya, Philosopher (IFRA-Nigeria Senior Research Fellow), and Janet Ogundairo, PhD Candidate in Sociology (University of Ibadan) animated a seminar titled: Doing research from where (and who) we are: the use of reflexivity and positionality in Social Sciences and Humanities.
Between the 6th and the 9th of November, IFRA-Nigeria organised a training in photogrammetry and 3D modelling as part of its research project on the religious architectural heritage of Ibadan. The training was provided by Marjorie Coulin, an Engineer at ICONEM. Founded in 2013, Iconem is an innovative French startup that specialises in the digitisation of endangered cultural heritage sites in 3D.
On the 16th of November, Gernot Klantschnig, Ediomo-Ubong Nelson and Janet Ogundairo gave a methological seminar shedding light on the ethical considerations and methodological obstacles researchers may encounter while doing sensitive research, with the goal of contributing to the knowledge necessary to navigate the intricate terrain of studying illicit activities and building capacity to conduct academically rigorous research with far-reaching policy and governance implications.
On the 31st of October, Dr. Katharina Oke gave a methodological seminar on the following theme “Working with Newspapers & Reflections on further developing Research Projects: from Master to PhD and Beyond”. The seminar had in attendance, researchers from various background who also shared their experiences on working with/on newspapers. Some 
The French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA), using The Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects (FSPI) awarded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is funding a project entitled “Protecting Political activists archives to write another history of Nigeria”. This project, which is a component of the 
On October 18, Dr Manetta, presented the methods she mobilized to conduct a political ethnography of south-west Burkina Faso. She discussed fieldwork experiences that led her to analyze social relations throug moves, place & space.
The interdisciplinary project 
As part of both its programs on Digital Humanities and Nigerian History and Heritage Conservation, IFRA-Nigeria has launched a research project on the digitization of the Archives of the National Museum Lagos in Collaboration with the National Commission for Museums and Monuments in its ongoing project that is funded from the grant that forms a part of a wider project entitled Fonds de Solidarité pour les Projets Innovant (FSPI Project).
On the 4th October 2023, Dr Barbara Morovich and Dr Delphine Manetta were invited to take part in a round table on "The Resurgence of Coups in Africa" organised by Prof. Irene Pogoson, Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan.
The latest issue of the 
From the 16th to the 20th of July 2023 the international humanities conference, partly sponsored by IFRA-Nigeria, took place at the faculty of Arts of Obafemi Awolowo University on the following theme: "new theories of Africa: diversities, divergences and dreams". The conference featured Professor Karin Barber from the university of Birmingham, Professor Carole Boyce Davies from Cornell University and Professor Tunde Bewaji from the University of West Indies.
Between the 18th of June and the 15th of July 2023, a research team led by Prof. Gérard Chouin worked on the Ife-Sunbgo Archeological Project. Besides the continuation of the usual annual archaeological excavation, two trainings took place (see below). The Ife-Sungbo team hosted the team of Her Excellency the Ambassador of France to Ife between the 3rd and 5th of July 2023. The team opened additional units of the excavation at both the Ita-Yemoo and Lujumo compound sites to study further the context of the different layers and types of pavements discovered.
Between the 10th and 13th of july, IFRA-Nigeria participated in a methodology workshop program coorganised by the department of history of the University of Ibadan and the University of Leipzig on the theme of "deepening research skills". The topics discussed were varied. Amongst others, Prof. O.C Adesina gave a class on comparative historiography, Prof. Dmitri van den Bersselaar gave a class on theory in historical research and Dr. Barbara Morovich gave a class on doing fieldwork in stigmatised contexts.
