Dr Sara Panata, Senior Research Associate at IFRA-Nigeria, defended her PhD thesis in September 2020 on “Nigeria Marches On. Feminist and Women’s Movements in the National Struggle for Socio-Political Rights (1944-1994)”. After supporting her research since 2013, IFRA-Nigeria was glad to take part to the first presentation of her Doctoral Research in the Department of History, University of Ibadan on the 2nd of June.

IFRA-Nigeria and IAS-Ibadan initiated a collaboration with KNUST university in KUMASI Ghana

Between 3rd and 7th of May, a delegation of IFRA-Nigeria and the Institute of African Studies (IAS) of the University of Ibadan visited the History and Political Studies Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. This week of exchange aimed at creating a collaboration between the three institutions, IAS, KNUST and IFRA-Nigeria.

"My thesis demonstrates the importance of moving away from an approach centered on major historical events and actors (...) By avoiding a teleological gaze that focuses on major socio-political changes, my study shines a light on stakeholders, mobilisations, and modes of action usually obscured by the  historiography."

Café Science - March 23rd : "Beyond Boko Haram : writing the History of Borno, Nigeria"

IFRA-Nigeria, in collaboration with the Alliance Française Ibadan, organised their first Café Science of 2021. The event, titled  “Beyond Boko Haram : writing History of Borno, Nigeria” was facilitated by Dr Vincent Hiribarren (director of IFRA-Nigeria). The debate was held at the Alliance Française of Ibadan, on Tuesday 23rd of March from 6pm to 7:30pm. The event gathered about 30 people, friends and colleagues of University of Ibadan and from the Alliance Française of Ibadan.

Appel à candidatures - Bourse pour un séjour de recherche postdoctoral en Afrique de l'Ouest

La Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme (FMSH) et l’Institut Français de Recherche en Afrique (IFRA) du Nigeria proposent à des postdoctorants résidant en France une aide à la mobilité pour réaliser un séjour de recherche de 2 ou 3 mois en Afrique de l’Ouest : Nigeria, Ghana, Bénin et Togo.

Seront soutenus des projets de recherche qui s’inscrivent dans la politique scientifique de l’IFRA Nigeria, en synergie avec ses chercheurs ou ses partenaires au Nigeria. Les projets interdisciplinaires sont bienvenus.

Cet appel s’inscrit dans le cadre du Programme Atlas de mobilité postdoctorale de courte durée lancé par la FMSH et ses partenaires.
