Study day: “Urban Action in Debate" . Journée d’étude « Action Urbaine en Débat »

ffffffrff

On the 26th of January 2024, a study day coordinated by Alexis Meier and the teaching team of the Master Urbanisme et Aménagement (ASPU) at the École Nationale Supérieure d'architecture de Strasbourg was held on the subject of heritage processes and contemporary urban modelling. Barbara Morovich was invited to speak, and in particular had the opportunity to address some of the heritage issues encountered during her mission as Director of IFRA-Nigeria.

The aim of the day was to offer a panorama of theoretical approaches to the notions (taken in the broad sense) of context and urbanity. The aim was to shed multidisciplinary light on the processes of emergence, transformation and evolution of spatial forms and urban structures in the context of the socio-historical temporalities to which they are subject.

On this occasion, Lazaros Mavromatidis (Engineer - Architect and Senior Lecturer, HDR researcher at the ICube UMR 7357 laboratory at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (National Institute of Applied Sciences) in Strasbourg) and Haifa Mamoud (graduate architect and urban planner from the ASPU master's programme and design engineer on the Clim'Ability Care project at the AMUP laboratory) also had the opportunity to present the activities and results achieved during various international workshops developed and directed by Lazaros Mavromatidis as part of CREHA (Erasmus +) in Termoli in September 2022 and in Ankara in September 2023.

In particular, Lazaros Mavromatidis presented his analysis of the resurgence of the influence of nature in architecture and urban planning, and the need for a critical examination of the conceptualization of nature and its relationship to architectural sustainability and ecological design.
