Dr. Elodie Apard (director of IFRA) and Clémentine Chazal (research associate at IFRA) hosted a methodological workshop for about 30 students on “how to apply for scholarships, postdocs and academic positions in Europe”. This workshop was held to intervene in parallel of the Nigerian Academy of Letter (NAL) conference which theme this year was "Defining Nigerianess: interfaces, convergence and pathways".
Based on their respective professional experience in France and the UK, Dr. Elodie Apard and Clementine Chazal dealt with the presentation of an application (proofreading, references, email etiquette). The presenters subsequently discussed the best ways to structure academic CVs and showed the best practices to write cover letters. They devoted the last part of the workshop on the structure and best practices to follow to write a research statement, according to European (and even American) universities.
The workshop targeted master and PhD students in social sciences and humanities willing to pursue an academic career.
This workshop at OAU also meant to enhance future partnerships between the Ile Ife federal university and IFRA-Nigeria. This event was made possible thanks to Dr. Titus Olusegun from the department of music (OAU), and we thank him deeply for his involvement.
