One-Day Roundtable "Urban Lives & Environmental Changes" - May 10th, UniLag

IFRA-Nigeria and the Center for Housing and Sustainable Development CHSD-UniLag organized a One-day Roundtable by & for Early-Career Researchers on "Urban Lives and Environmental Changes". The Roundtable took place on May 10th in the University of Lagos from 9am to 4pm.

This Roundtable was co-organized by early-career researchers from the Center of Housing and Sustainable Development (CHSD), University of Lagos and IFRA-Nigeria (Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan), and is part of a collaborative conference series organized by the Institut Français du Nigéria, the French Embassy in Nigeria and IFRA-Nigeria.

This one-day roundtable aimed at questioning the relations between Nature and urban collectives (authorities and city-dwellers) and at creating bridges between various Humanities disciplines and scholars and non-academic urban development experts.

IFRA-Nigeria and CHSD-UniLag launched a call for papers, specifically calling for transdisciplinary papers that tackle impact of environmental changes on urban lives, human and non-human. The proposed focus was either on cities as products of interwoven physical and social realities, and/or on cities as contexts of asymmetrical power relations within and in-between urban collectives regarding environmental changes.
The Organization Committee received 22 abstracts, and choose 6 abstracts among them.

Guest speakers: Anthony Adejuwon, Urban Alert Nigeria & Dr Temilade Sesan, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

Papers were be presented by: Olusola Ayandele, Njoku Chukwudi, Deborah Temisan Lawal, Nadir A. Nasidi, Oluwabusolami Ojo, Oluwaseyi Popogbe, Victor Sokari.
