Ten-year anniversary of the Ife-Sungbo archeological project
The Ife-Sungbo Project & IFRA-Nigeria teams
The Ife-Sungbo Archeological Project is celebrating ten-year of working to offer new perspectives on the urbanization history chronology as well as the socio-political dynamics of West-African tropical forest societies. IFRA-Nigeria is proud to be a partner of the project since its inception in 2015.
On 7 August, IFRA-Nigeria Director Barbara Morovich and Secretary-General Emmanuel Udoh visited the ongoing Ife-Sungbo archeological digs. Professor Gérard Chouin, the principal investigator, presented the experts analyzing ceramic and glass fragments, as well as plant residues found in different excavation sites. Next, IFRA-Nigeria also met with the entire team at the dig site surrounding Yemoo grove, and observed the work of uncovering the 13th century pavement.
