This event is part of our Débats des Idées (Debates of Ideas) programme, on the theme “Écouter les voix sensibles et alternatives pour ouvrir la voie” (“Listen to sensitive and alternative voices to pave the way”), supported by the Institut Français.
The discussion centered around three key questions:
- What are your relations to archives?
- How do you engage with decoloniality?
- How can we offer a new vision of history, giving voices to those that were marginalized?
It was followed by a screening of Colette & Justin, a documentary by Alain Kassanda in which he explores the story of the Democratic Republic of the Congo through the lives of his grandparents, under colonial domination, during the fight for independence and the internal political struggle that followed. Alain Kassanda himself joined us online to discuss his work with the audience.
