IFRA-NIGERIA ONLINE WORKSHOPS PROGRAMME

As you may know, in accordance with the latest government statement regarding measures to contain the COVID-19 virus, IFRA-Nigeria's offices are closed until further notice, library included. However, IFRA’s team has come up with alternative solutions to continue its training activities.

We are hosting a series of online events using Facebook Live as a platform.

9TH ONLINE WORKSHOP: "DECOMPARTMENTALIZING KNOWLEDGE: RESEARCHING AND WRITING ACROSS THE HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES"

This ninth online workshop on Decompartmentalizing Knowledge: Researching and Writing Across the Humanities and Social Scienceswas facilitated by Saheed Aderinto (Western Carolina University, USA). It was held on Tuesday 9th of June 2020 at 1pm (Nigerian time) on our Facebook page.

Saheed Aderinto is an associate professor of History at Western Carolina University (USA)

What is the workshop about?

This workshop provides some suggestions on how to develop a research project that does not compartmentalize knowledge. Scholars in the humanities and social sciences are often encouraged to adopt trans-, multi-, and inter-disciplinary approaches in their work. The more encompassing their methodology is, the higher the chance of breaking new grounds and providing visibility for silenced narratives, ideas, and people. Yet, only few are equipped with the skill and training to think, research, and write across disciplines. Developing a research agenda with strong immersion in the discursive tools, vocabularies, theoretical frameworks, and sources from multiple fields require rigor and a clear understanding of scholarly trajectory.
