Next IFRA fellows' Research Training Seminar: Quoting and Referencing in Academic Writing

Last minute: due to the ongoing University of Ibadan staff strike, this seminar has been postponed to Tuesday, 4th of April 2017 (same hours, same place). Registrations remain closed. All registered participants have been asked to confirm attendance by email as soon as possible.

Date: 28th of March 2017

Time: 10am-3pm

Place: IFRA Library (Groundfloor, Institute of African Studies)

Following the success of our first IFRA Fellows workshop in February, IFRA is happy to organise its second research training seminar this month. As with the previous one, it will be run by IFRA staff members Dr. Elodie Apard, Dr. Emilie Guitard, Ismael Maazaz and Sara Panata.

While our first session dealt mainly with bibliographical research, this one will be devoted to quoting and referencing in academic writing. It will address crucial topics, including:

  • How to avoid plagiarism
  • How to quote academic works following various citation styles
  • How to create accurate bibliographies or reference lists, notably with your personal Zotero bibliographical database.

Participants of our first workshop are thus particularly encouraged to attend this new session.

The seminar is open to master and PhD students in any field of the Social Sciences among our IFRA research fellows. Each participant has thus to register as a IFRA fellow (if not done yet), by filling and sending to Ismael Maazaz (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) the form downloadable on our website

Due to limited room availability (15 people max.), we strongly advise interested participants to register rapidly (imperatively before Friday 24 of March).
